7 Steps To Achieving Remarkable Greatness

“I was never afraid of failure; for I would sooner fail than not be among the greatest.”
 - John Keats

E
veryone wants to be great, but not everyone knows how to be great. And even when you know how to be great, do you keep to the path of greatness long enough till you’ve achieved your ultimate goal? Do you know the recipes for greatness? Well, you might have tried and failed a number of times but you are not a failure – at least not while you’re still willing to keep trying.

“You were born with potential.
You were born with goodness and trust. You were born with ideals and dreams. You were born with greatness.
You were born with wings.
You are not meant for crawling, so don't.
You have wings.
Learn to use them and fly.”
-          Rumi

Therefore, to help you hasten your pace and smoothen your path and journey to astounding greatness, here are 7 time-tested and trusted steps to achieving remarkable greatness. Follow them with commitment and constancy and watch your story change for the better.

#1 Have a dominating dream. This is the first step to every great achievement. If you can first of all dream it, then it can be possible to achieve it. Without a permeating dream, having a vision and a mission for your life becomes almost impossible.

#2 Desire your dream with all you’ve got. Desire is the foundation stone of every success worth anything. The amount to which you desire it will be the extent to which that dream is fuelled. Want it above all else, and the dream begins to take shape.

#3 Be fueled with a definite purpose. Have a clear-cut, definite goal you want to pursue. You must not desire so many things at the same time. Desire one thing at a time. If its football you want to play, then play football. If you want to sing, sing. If you want to be a doctor, study to be a doctor.  If you want to be a blogger, then start blogging. Point is, commit to a purpose and stick to it. In other words, have ‘stickability’ mindset to that dream you pursue, and make it define everything about you.

#4 Have an unwavering determination to succeed. Having a dream, and desiring that dream is one thing. But actually, what keeps desire burning and your passion focused on your definite goal is your determination to keep the fire burning and the dream alive; your determination to succeed. You stay with the plan, focused on the goal, persisting in spite of challenges, and keeping on when the going gets tough.  That’s how you keep your eyes on the ball, and stay strong in the game.

#5 Discipline yourself. One of the reasons for failures is lack of discipline. To achieve your dream you must stay grounded at all times. You must put in the shift when you have to, and work at your dream with the right attitude and concentration levels. You never waver until you see it to reality. You burn the proverbial midnight candle if you have to. You work in the gym for days on end if that’s what it takes. Point is: You put yourself through hell and brave its fiery chasm if that’s what you have to give to succeed. That is how you make yourself worthy of achieving greatness.

#6 Dedicate your life to it. Your dream needs devotion and your utmost commitment. It should consume you enough that you pray about it every morning upon awakening and at night before sleeping. You are attached to it as it becomes your second nature. You think it, feel it, dream it, eat it, drink it, wear it, talk about it, etc.

#7 Deliver on your potential when it matters.  After putting in the shift and fighting against all odds to maintain momentum, you just have to perform where and when it matters. You must be ready to put your best performance when the time is right for it.

Above all, believe in yourself and in your capacity to achieve, and your greatness is assured. Never give in to doubt or fear of failing. Trust in your destiny. Have faith in your talents and abilities and the sky will only be a stepping stone to still further greatness.
