ust recently (today, September 27th, actually),
I realized that poetry is suddenly becoming a dying art in this part of the
world! Long gone are the days when we woo our love interest with the sweet
words only good poetry can inspire. Dead are the days when sweet songs are
spiced with poetic words and lyrics that it melts our hearts a thousand times
over!
Today, however, Suya,
Point-and-Kill, Nkwobi, isi ewu and expensive gifts have slowly but sadly
taken away all the sweetness poetry offers to romance and true love. Dead are
the sweet essences and feelings of eternal bliss sweet poems inspired in the
heart and soul.
So today, of all the days gone by since I last wrote
this beautiful poem, I remember the feeling that led me to put down these
inspiring words. I hope you find inspiration in and from it as well, so that we
may reignite the unadulterated passion sweet and timeless poetry brings to our heart
and soul, and to true love!
Enjoy!
PASS ME NOT…
Pass
me not, my freshest of flowers.
Make home with me as I count the hours.
And come rain, come shine, come hot, come cold,
Let me find in thy form a belle to behold.
Pass me not, my sweetest of showers.
Pour thy peace in my soul to liven my powers.
That my eyes through thine glitter gazes of gold;
A lightnin' of LOVE our twain hearts to hold.
I've been waitin' here - lone - many a long while.
I've laughed and made laugh without a single smile.
For it's thee who I want - it's thee I long;
It's the rhythm thou sound I bless make my song.
And till stars fade, rain freeze, Sun fall, and Moon fail,
PASS ME NOT - 'cause it's thee I wait to set on sail...
Make home with me as I count the hours.
And come rain, come shine, come hot, come cold,
Let me find in thy form a belle to behold.
Pass me not, my sweetest of showers.
Pour thy peace in my soul to liven my powers.
That my eyes through thine glitter gazes of gold;
A lightnin' of LOVE our twain hearts to hold.
I've been waitin' here - lone - many a long while.
I've laughed and made laugh without a single smile.
For it's thee who I want - it's thee I long;
It's the rhythm thou sound I bless make my song.
And till stars fade, rain freeze, Sun fall, and Moon fail,
PASS ME NOT - 'cause it's thee I wait to set on sail...
